Family Coat of Arms

The Heraldry on the following pages belong to Various Familys within our family tree. You will note that some of the names have more than one Coat of Arms. They belong to different "branches" within that family and may have slight or great differences. As I have learned, the hard way, The Coat of Arms belongings to an individual from a given family. In order to OFFICIALLY claim a particular Coat of Arms or Crest one must petition the College of Arms.

While it is not my intent to lay LEGAL Claim to any specific Coat of Arms included here, the Coat of Arms, Crest and motto for the Manly family (in black and white), is the one belonging to a direct ancestor. On a number of them you will notice spelling variations. The variations shown were at one pointor another the spelling of the surname within our family. I am simply displaying them as lovely works of art. Some were handed down through the family. I found many others at "Designs of Wonder", as I worked on the various "branches" of my tree . I am including links to a few sites that have some wonderful information and/or artwork in the field of heraldry. I am also including a "link" to Clipart Castle, in recognition of the "liberated" medieval clipart on these pages. Please, enjoy!

The first two items are NOT a family Coat of Arms nor Family Crests. They are copies of the Great Seal of Maryland, kindly forwarded to me by Helen Manley.

John Manly would have been "Keeper" of the seal shown.

If anyone out there has come across the Syng(e) family Coat of arms, PLEASE let me know. Family history has described it in detail, but to date, I've never actually seen a copy of it.
